What is Expense management?
Most hosts know their revenue, because Airbnb and Booking tell them. Very few know their real margin, because expenses are scattered across supplier invoices, WhatsApp chats with the plumber, Enel bills and cleaning receipts.
Doorling is an expense log built for short-term rentals. You pick the category, link it to the property, write the supplier and a note, and in Statistics you see your net margin per property, per month and per year.
What you get with Expense management
- Categories built for short-term rentals, from bills and building fees to maintenance and taxes
- Every expense linked to its property, with net margin per property calculated automatically
- Supplier and note on every line, so you find the plumber's bill without digging through WhatsApp
- The history you kept in a spreadsheet comes in all at once
- The expenses-by-category chart tells you at a glance where the money goes
- CSV export for your accountant, so year-end takes five minutes
What you stop doing with Expense management
Rebuilding an Excel every month with different columnsNo longer remembering who you paid and for which propertyNot knowing whether a property is making or losing moneySending your accountant eighty photos instead of a tidy CSV
How Expense management works
Record the expense
Amount, date and category are enough. Property, supplier and note you add when they matter.
Pick one of eight categories
Nothing to set up: maintenance, bills, building fees, cleaning, supplies, insurance, taxes and other.
Import your history from CSV
Download the template, fill it in from Excel or Google Sheets and upload your old expenses in one go.
Read your margin
In the dashboard you see revenue, expenses and net per property and period, updated by the minute.
Frequently asked questions about Expense management
All answersNot today, there is no bank reconciliation. Expenses are entered by hand or uploaded from a CSV file, and for one to five properties five minutes a week is enough.
Not for now. Each expense has an amount, date, category, property, supplier and a note, but no file. Keep your receipts where they already are and write the invoice number in the note, so you can find it again.
Doorling keeps track of expenses but doesn't give tax advice. What's deductible is for your accountant to decide based on your tax regime, whether that's cedolare secca, forfettario or the standard regime, and the CSV export is the format they need.
Whoever manages the account enters them, meaning the account owner and anyone with the manager role. Your accountant sees them read-only, while anyone with the Cleaning role can't see them.
Yes, but for stay invoices, not for expenses. If you have a VAT number, with Fatture in Cloud connected you create a pre-filled invoice from a booking's details and issue it from there, because Doorling doesn't send it to the SdI. Expenses stay in Doorling's log and you export them as CSV.
